COACH — Church Origins and Church History — is a weekly podcast and video series that traces the Christian story one generation at a time. Each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, host Bob Baulch takes listeners into the lives, letters, and moments that shaped the church — from the first century to today. Every episode pairs factual storytelling with thoughtful reflection and a practical call to action.
The goal: to make history honest, engaging, and relevant — not just to learn what happened, but to ask what it means for us now.
How That’s Jesus Channel and COACH Began
Several years ago, I started writing a book called “That’s Jesus.”
It’s a section-by-section look at the book of Genesis — showing how every major story, personality, symbol, and event points to Jesus in some way. To stay motivated and accountable while writing, I decided to start a YouTube channel where I could post progress updates and share what I was learning.
Over time, the channel grew into more than book updates.
I began creating short series — like one-minute breakdowns of different eschatology systems, quick Bible vocabulary explanations, and reflections on topics that caught my interest. One of my first videos explored whether cremation is sinful for a Christian, and I continued producing content for YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and other platforms.
A few years in, I released a deeply personal video about my journey out of the Church of Christ denomination. That video sparked a wave of conversation and encouragement, with many people urging me to keep sharing my story.
To be clear — I didn’t walk away from the Lord’s church. I simply learned to center my faith even more fully on Jesus Himself, trusting His grace in every area of life. That shift changed everything. It brought freedom, peace, and a deeper reliance on God’s goodness. From time to time, I’ve continued that series to reassure friends and family still in the Church of Christ that my love for them — and my belief in their faithfulness to Christ — has never wavered.
Then, in the summer of 2025, a new chapter began.
I launched a podcast called COACH — Church Origins and Church History, a series that tells true stories from church history and draws lessons for Christians today. What started as one small experiment quickly became a three-episode-per-week project — complete with research, scripting, recording, and editing. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.
